Pajama Game

"The Pajama Game is the game we're in
and we're proud to be in the Pajama Game,
we love it!
We can hardly wait, to wake and get to work at 8.
Nothin's quite the same as the Pajama Game!"

After months of rehearsing, the kids will enjoy opening night TONIGHT! The last few weeks, we've been rehearsing nightly from 5-10 (plus doing complete hair and make-up prior to arriving at the theater). It's been a strange schedule to keep because it means eating dinner (or a late lunch) around 3 so we can get hair/makeup ready for the 20 minute ride to the theater, and having some sort of snack around 11 when we finally get back home.

Jourdan plays "Max"....think eccentric door-to-door salesman (in the 50's). The directions we got for costuming his character were "...it should be painful to look at you!" I think we have succeeded, especially in the picnic scene with plaid shorts, ugly knee high socks, and a bright Hawaiian shirt. It was totally out of Jourdan's personal character to dress like "Max" would, but he's come to embrace it. (We are all hoping he doesn't translate any of "Max" into his personal life....I couldn't take it.)

Jourdan gets to wear "normal" clothes for "Hernando's Hideaway". Sorry about the photo quality, it's very dark during this scene.

Julia plays "Sarah" , a seamstress at the Sleep Tite Pajama Factory in cast A. She has some really cute 50's inspired outfits.....too bad it's been nearly 100 degrees with an un-air conditioned theater....it makes the silk sweater hard to bear. In cast B, Julia plays "coffee girl" and walks around serving only the special people in the factory their cup of coffee.

I wish you could all be here to see them perform. One of these days I'll figure out how to post video (especially for you Grandpa).
