Ceremonies

Last week, each of our kids had a ceremony for us to attend. First, Jourdan was inducted into National Junior Honor Society. He thought it "would look good on his resume"......because THAT'S what every 12 year old boy is thinking about....! Surely, you will be able to find Jourdan - he insisted on wearing a suit!

All the parents were nervous about the kids standing so close together and wielding candles.....we were just waiting for someone to light someone else's hair ablaze! The advisor for NJHS did inform us of all of our options for emergency exits, should the fire alarm go off.

On Saturday, Julia had her Bridging Ceremony. (That's where the girls "bridge" or advance from one level of scouting to another - think "crossing over" ceremony in Cub Scouts.) Her troop leader actually had them cross a bridge (the pedestrian bridge over highway 14 by Fort Vancouver) to symbolize the "bridging" from Brownie Scouts to Junior Girl Scouts.

After the trek across the bridge, we had lunch at Who-Song and Larry's and an award ceremony. Julia was so excited to get all her prizes from cookie sales. She had to have 2 bags to carry her haul. (And she is still waiting for the i-pod and Heeleys which were specially ordered so the girls could make style/color choices.)

So much fun! Congratulations to all. I'm thinking your kids might be the perfect role models for mine. I can pretty much guarantee some hero worship for Julia. Looking forward to getting to know both of them.
