Berlin at Night

Here's the gang at the Opernpalais nostalgic Christmas Market.  Just one of the many markets that pop up in Berlin's town squares around the holiday season.  I don't know about the boys...but us girls had a great time shopping at all the little stores in the market.
My favorite thing about this market was the surroundings.  I loved looking up at this cute church while I was shopping.  Makayla ran into St. Nicholas who gave her a foot tall Lindt chocolate Santa.....what?  We're ususally lucky to get a tiny canday cane.  I wanted a 10 euro Santa!

The decorations were so pretty.  Even though it was SOOO cold outside, the atmosphere was so festive that we almost didn't notice (almost).

The picture below is of Sony Center near Postdamer Platz.  This giant glass and silk dome covers the entire plaza.   It's got to be 15 stories above the ground.  At night it's lit and is so cool to see.

Makayla even found a Lego santa with sleigh and reindeer. We ate dinner at an Australian restaurant in Sony Center (yes, Austrailian food in Germany).  Although the view of Sony Center from the restaurant was fantastic, the food.....not so much.
This is the Arkaden, the local shopping mall.  The mall itself is nothing worth visiting, but I did enjoy the Christmas lights.  They met my standards; which is hard to do.  (If you've heard about the near 2000 lights on my personal 7 foot Christmas tree.)

The sound on this video is not interesting, but I filmed it to show the changing of the colors on the silk and glass.

Oh my goodness!! I would have LOVED that!!! I've heard the Christmas markets in Europe are awesome--there's a family in our ward who goes to a different one every year. (I know... rough life.) I loved all your pictures!! SO COOL!!!! And of course the Lego sleigh. Awesome.
