Eagle Scout Award Banquet

This post ought to show how far behind I am....

On April 23, Jourdan took Jonathan and I to a breakfast banquet celebrating Scouts who had earned the rank of Eagle during 2011.  The event was held at 6-something in the morning at the Portland Art Museum.  The event was also a "Friends of Scouting" fundraiser for the council's large donors.  Jourdan got to particiate in a flag ceremony.  Greg Walden, U.S. Representative for the State of Oregon, was awarded the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award.  The award is for Eagle Scouts (who have held the rank for 20, or so, years) who have served their communities.  The room was filled with scouting VIP's and business leaders.

Leatherman Tools gave all the Eagle Scouts a new Leatherman.  Jourdan was excited, even though this is his 3rd Leatherman.  He got one from Tim Leatherman himself as an award for being one of the first scouts in the council to complete the new "inventing" merit bagde.  Uncle Brad gave him one as a gift for his Eagle.  They are all different and equally cool!  The dad in our house is jealous....he would like Jourdan to share ONE of them with him.  It was a really nice event for the boys and their families in attendance.
