Hot House Kids

Jourdan and Julia expanded on a "family favorite" activity. First, the background story: As a teenager, my sister would get up an hour earlier than necessary before school, wander downstairs with her pillow and a blanket, and make a little bed on the floor directly over the heat vent. When done correctly, the blanket will inflate with warm air, like a hot-air balloon. This she would do on a daily basis and watch cartoons (or fall asleep again). Thus, it was no surprise to find my children creating their own "room" using the same principles.


The little tunnel on the right leads from a heat vent into the "room" they made under the dining room table. They taped blankets all around the table, and filled it with blankets and pillows. The "Hot House" (as they called it) really got warm. This little project entertained them for 2 days! Here's a view of the inside:

That's so cute!! I bet it was cozy, too (warm). My kids always make their forts with tape, too. :)
