Winter Wonderland

The youth at church went up to Mount Hood with their families today to play in the snow. We had to borrow a lot of gear, but the kids had a good time....for a while. Jourdan had a great time even though this picture suggests otherwise.
Julia had fun until her hands and feet got wet, then she was cold.  She also fell on the ice (twice) which ruined the fun for her after about an hour or so.
Jourdan is scaling the hill after his saucer ride to the bottom.

Here's a group from Julia's school class and church class.  Colton, Julia, and "N" pose for a picture together.

This is why I love living here....I get to see this mountain top (from a much greater distance) almost every day.  Of course, during the winter, we see it less often due to cloud cover.  Today is was just a majestic sight towering above us as we played on it's slopes.
There was about 15 inches of new snow today on Mount Hood that fell yesterday.  The news report from the previous evening said that the skiing conditions for today would be "epic"....I guess everyone listened because I could use that same word to describe the traffic jam of vehicles trying to get to the ski areas.  It took us a couple of hours to drive what should have taken about 20 minutes.  The conditions were fantastic.  The snow was so soft and powdery - like Utah snow.  Tonight's top news story was about the horrific traffic up the mountain....
One of Julia's first runs down the hillside.
Jourdan takes a spill on the mountain....but it was a great ride!

Wow, those are great pictures. Looks fun though cold. It's so funny to look at them today because our temps have been in the 40s since yesterday and all the snow is melting. WAHOO. It's not supposed to get below freezing until tomorrow night.
