Hot Enough for Ya?

We went to the Sulfur Hot Springs in Auburn, Wyoming today with Grandma Hale, cousin Makayla Hale, Aunt Beth and the Voter Cousins. The kids had never been to a hot springs before; neither had I for that matter.  The smell was something to be desired, but the kids got over that really quickly and dove into the warm water.
Not ALL the kids got over the smell, however.  This look on Jourdan's face pretty much says it all (as far as he is concerned).  He had no interest in the cloudy water, the mud, or the smell.

The scenery in Star Valley is just amazing.  Check out the mountains that surround the valley....part of the Bridger National Forrest.  There's still snow on those peaks.  Julia and Miranda in the springs:

Makayla and Julia paddle the canoe while Miranda (the lifeguard - for real) makes sure they don't tip over in the 35 foot deep water.

The girls are treating themselves to natural foot baths...who needs a spa with mud and bubbly hot water like this?  (um.....ME!)

Julia swimming in the hot springs.  She wasn't afraid to smell like rotten eggs....I was...for my own sake and for the sake of all the passengers in my car for the next few weeks.

This is a very "expensive" spa treatment...she did it herself for FREE!

I love this next picture.  First,  I caught the girls (Julia and Miranda) mid jump.  Plus, check out the scenery again.  This valley may be known as Star Valley now (because of the vast number of stars that can be seen from here); but in pioneer times, the travelers that came through here on their way to Oregon and California on the Lander Trail called this place Paradise Valley.  Is there any question as to why?  I think not!

I remember my first trip to the Hot Springs...it does smell bad, but even now (many years later) I remember how warm the water was and how much fun I had. That doesn't mean I would willingly jump in today though. Looks like Julia had a great time though!

It IS pretty!! The hot springs look fun, although I might have been with Jourdan. We just went to the Great Salt Lake on our trip, and the smell there left something to be desired as well. Great pictures, though, and I would have liked the WARM water, I'm sure.
