Girl Scout cookie sales for 2012 are finally over. This little "project" has occupied our evenings and weekends for the past 9 weeks. Julia far exceeded her original goal of selling 1,000 boxes of cookies. When she reached her first goal (during the third week), she decided to increase her goal. She continued to do this until she got within 200 boxes of the top prize...at that point, we all committed to just getting all the way to the 2012 box prizes.
Some of the evenings we sold cookies were dry...but MOST looked like THIS:
Although, if she was with a friend (like Maddie), the selling seemed to go much faster. (Even if it was hailing, pouring, blowing, and just above freezing.
As in years past, we loaded the van from front to rear, and floor to ceiling:
This year Julia had the idea to make a count-down sign. We think it really helped her to push her final 200 boxes of cookies. It was funny to see the small crowd of people gather around to watch her sell her last 10 boxes of cookies. The following picture is not a shot of Julia being angry about selling cookies; she's just angry that Mom feels the need to document every moment of it.
Can you believe that the girls had one evening where they were able to sell cookies without parkas, long underwear, gloves and hats? It only happened once! And, as soon as the sun set, the temperatures dropped, and all the above-mentioned clothing was retrieved from the car.
For all of her hard work, Julia will receive the following prizes:
- giraffe stuffed animal and sleepover set (sleeping bag, duffel bag, alarm clock)
- beach towel and beach bag
- $150 gift card to Great Wolf Lodge (indoor water park/hotel)
- e-reader and e-book gift certificate
- pearl necklace and earings
- video camera
- tablet PC
- $665 in cookie credit (can be used for camps or other Girl Scout items)
- 10 entries into a drawing for an iPad (cross your fingers)

Great job Julia and Hale Family on the Cookie Sales this year! We will cross our fingers for your I-pad too.
Love ya, Aunt Maile
Grandma and Grandpa Hale are proud of your conscientiousness, Julia. You set a goal and don't stop til it's done. Actually, you set one and figure out that it wasn't hard enough so you keep increasing it. That is real gumption!
Those kinds of characteristics seem to run in your family, i.e. Jourdan's Eagle Scout accomplishments and his school merits.
Enjoy your awards and the "Spare Time" now that all the cookies are delivered.
Love you!
AMAZING! Way to go, Julia (ummm, and everyone else who helped out, of course) but, mostly...Julia!
Oh my gosh, she's amazing. (I think the picture of her in the blue sitting in/at the trunk of your van looks like Belinda!) Tell her "Great Job!"
