On Saturday, December 15, we took Grandma and Grandpa with us to see the Christmas ships on the Willamette River. We arrived just in time to watch the ships before eating dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory in Portland.
And, YES, it was pouring rain! But, why wouldn't it be? We live in the Northwest where we often enjoy our liquid sunshine this time of year.
Normally, we wouldn't even bother using umbrellas, but we didn't know how long we would have to wait for the ships to pass by our location. It's always a challenge for me to get pictures to turn out at night, but this year, I managed to get one.
I did manage to get a video (rather poor quality) of our favorite Christmas ship - the fire engine. The quality isn't very good because water kept getting on the lens. (Plus, it's always hard filming at night because the camera seems confused as to what I'm trying to focus on.)
The whole time we were watching the ships, Grandma kept telling us how in FLORIDA, she and Grandpa watched a similar parade of ships (at Christmas time) while wearing short-sleeved shirts and no jackets! Christmas in Florida is much different than Christmas in the Northwest.
And, it wouldn't be Christmas without Julia licking the candy cane ornament on the outdoor tree - gross!
Our family - in our color coordinating jackets. (Didn't really plan that!)

Oh, I love Christmas ships! Your pictures of them are better than mine were, though. I can't believe how old your kids look! What happened?! Love Julia's bangs.
