First of all, the reason for the Hippo Birdie title is this cute card Aunt Whitney and Uncle Jason sent to Grandma for her birthday in December. Now, whenever we sing the birthday song we sing it this way.......
When the card is opened, it obviously has another hippo, birdie and two ewe.....totally cute!
When the card is opened, it obviously has another hippo, birdie and two ewe.....totally cute!Julia celebrated her 9th birthday last week. Grandma and Grandpa had a family party for her at their house. She chose a steak dinner (Not something you would think a 9 year-old girl would choose...whatever, it's her party, and we adults were glad she didn't choose mac-and-cheese.) She decorated cupcakes to take to all her friends at school too.
Among the other things she asked for for her birthday, one thing she specifically wanted for her birthday was for Mom and Dad to "9 Attack" her bedroom door while she was sleeping. She got this idea when she saw a door get "heart attacked" for Valentine's Day. This was a wish that I could easily handle bringing to reality.
The best birthday conversation of the month was a call between Grandma Hale and Julia. Grandma was calling to find out what Julia wanted for her birthday.....Julia answered her by saying (with a gigantic grin on her face, and a twinkle in her eyes)....."Well, I've always wanted to have a puppy, or a kitty, or a hamster, or a bird!" Through the cell phone Grandma laughingly replied, "Yes, but what do you want for your birthday that you can ACTUALLY HAVE?" I'm sure Grandma would happily help her find a pet; she and Julia are both kitty lovers. However, since Julia lives at MY house, she will not be having any of these things anytime soon. (Many of you already know the story of the goldfish, Spotty, that we already have. If not, you can ask me sometime!) Needless to say, it didn't really matter what she got for her birthday....all she really wanted was a PET!

I love the "9-attack." That is SO cute!! :) And, yeah, I love it when they're old enough to want steak (as opposed to mac-n-cheese or pizza). Hippo Birdie, Julia! Hope it was a good one. :)
