Walk Like An Egyptian

Julia's Brownie troop participated in "World Thinking Day" today. (In order for this event to make sense, the emphasis must go with the word "world".) The idea is that Girl Scouts spend the day focusing on life in other countries. Her troop choose to learn about Egypt, both modern and ancient. They got all dressed up in their best ancient Egyptian garb and headed out for a day of "traveling the world". Their outfits turned out so cute!

They spent their meeting times over the past month preparing for today's festivities. Each girl contributed to the research that was presented on a science-fair style display. They also made their own paper mache masks to wear during their skit and dance.

Grandma came just in time to help Julia with her eye makeup. Both Grandma and Grandpa were on hand for Julia's troop dance and skit. We all got to sample food, traditions, music, history, traditional costumes, and treats from around the world. Some of the places we visited included: Germany, England, Scottland, China, Afganistan, Japan, France, Mexico, and Ireland. Since each troop chose a different country, there was no shortage of countries to "visit". Fun times!
