I'm behind in posting....this was a couple of weekends ago. I got to go with Julia and her Junior Girl Scout troop to Camp
Yamhill. It is on the east side of the coast range in Oregon (about 90 minutes away).

We spent two nights and three days "camping". I use that term lightly because when I think camping, I envision tents, sleeping bags, dirt, and no showers. That is NOT what this camp was like. This Girl Scout camp was more like spending the weekend in a bad college dorm. Each dorm room holds 8 bunks. We had an indoor bathroom and showers right across the hall. There was even a huge great room with stainless steel appliances and flat screen TV. This is NOT camping! (That's probably why I would be willing to go back despite the hard plastic-covered mattresses and cramped room.) Here's our troop with our "flag". (Please take note of the sunshine in these pictures on Saturday. It had been raining for 18 days straight...this was one of our first days without rain!)

We worked on several team building "projects" in the
forest. The first was called "Walk the Plank". We had to use two boards to cross all four team members over a series of landings. It was a challenge for these 4 third graders, but they eventually managed to get everyone safely across.

This was called "Don't Wake
Spidey". The girls really had to work together to pass this rope through the spider web without it touching any of the spider web.

Julia is enthusiastically pointing to the three small turtles the girls found while
canoeing. (Reminder....note the beautiful sunshine!)

Julia takes on the
rockwall. She was surprisingly successful here at camp, she made it about 2/3 of the way up the huge wall. It was her personal best
rockwall climb.

This event was called "Bridge is Out". The girls (and us leaders) got to swing on a sort of zip-line across the river. It wasn't so much of a fast "ride" but it was fun anyway!

Here's our troop waiting for the campfire to begin on Saturday night. They got to perform a cute skit.

The next morning (Sunday), we woke up to THIS. Remember the beautiful weather on Saturday? Apparently, it rained (just a little bit) over night. It really didn't stop all day. We were thankful that we had done most of our fun activities on Saturday. The only thing we really missed was archery.

The girls are true Northwesterners...they just put on their hoodies, and went about their activities.
It was a really fun weekend! I was planning a rough weekend, and I was happily surprised. Maybe I'll go again next year.

Great pictures, as always. I think it's fantastic what a great time Julia has with Girl Scouts!! It's so neat. Your "camp" looks so fun--and I am totally that kind of "camper." I can do "bad dorm room," just not sleeping in a tent on the hard ground and not having a shower! :)
you are so good to go. I hate girls camp I went for 7 years in a row, I'm so over that!
I'm so glad to find your blog! Now can I blog stalk you. I didn't know you were one of Julia's leaders. Looks like a fun camp.
