'Twas the first day of Spring Break,
and all through the house
Not a child was stirring,
only my spouse.
The house was a mess
from Conference weekend before
So Mom got up and cleaned
until there was time no more
The children were sleeping
when woken with a fright
Mom shouted, "Get up!"
"Your grandparents will be late for the flight!"
We stopped at Target
to buy Jourdan shorts
And pick up birthday favors
of many colors and sorts
The kids rediscovered
the little white console (Wii)
That lives next to the TV
until the noise took its toll
Mom told the kids
to find something else to do
They thought for a while
without attempting a coup
Then out in the yard
there arose such a clatter
Mom opened the blinds
to see what was the matter
Although it was cold
and raining outside
The kids had begun
to train as Jedi
With sticks in hands
to mimic light-sabers
The had a battle
that brought snickers from neighbors
When they became wetter
than their mother would allow
They came inside to see
what they could “create” now
After an imaginary picnic
and camp out with Webkinz a plenty
They started a bouncy-ball war
and even counted how many
The video below
shows how it ended
156 balls on Julia’s head descended
The game was now over
it got out of control …
Mom doesn’t like water
on the floor from the fish bowl.
What will happen the rest of the week?
I really can’t say
But I can guarantee
it’s got to be better than ANY school day!

What fun your kids are having on Spring Break! Hope you hold up through the whole thing.
Oh my gosh, I love your kids. And your poetry. What a fun post! I hope they have a lot of fun this week! (Oh, and with Julia home, have her watch for my next post--today or tomorrow--because Belinda has a little "news"...)
