Aloha

After months of planning....we finally woke up at 3:15 this morning and headed to the airport to go to Hawaii. Our plane arrived here in Kona, HI about noon (Hawaii time), but we'd already been up for 13 hours. We didn't let that stop us from driving up the West side of the island to see petroglyphs and swim in the ocean. We hope to be able to have time to post pictures each day, but it will depend on our internet access.
This is how Julia wanted to travel to Hawaii, so she did a few practice runs at home before we left today.
Dad made sure we were all officially welcomed to the island properly, so he got us beautiful leis! We hiked (about 40 minutes) over old lava flows to see petroglyphs....sort of interesting.
Then we drove to Spencer Beach Park to let the kids play......they ended up tearing into their suitcases (still in the car from the airport) and jumping into their swimwear. They spent about two hours playing in the sand and swimming in the ocean.

Here's a video of the kids (and Dad) playing in the ocean at Spencer Park Beach.

How fun! We're happy for you & jealous, too, so I'm glad you'll be posting throughout the trip so that we can be there "with" you along the way! Belinda will love it, too. :) How TOTALLY fun! :)
