Swimming with a Wholphin

...Yes, a wholphin, not a dolphin! Jourdan was very captivated by this huge creature. It is half Atlantic bottle-nose dolphin and half false killer whale. This is the only one in captivity....if not anywhere...these animals don't normally interbreed...they are two separate species. Anyway, Sea Life Park in Oahu has the only one. This is what it looks like.
Jourdan was engrossed in the details of this "mutant" creature. He memorized all kinds of facts about it. For example: A false killer whale has 88 teeth, and a bottle-nose dolphin has 44......so, obviously, a cross between the two (a wholphin) would naturally have 66, right? True. Anyway, we went to Sea Life Park mostly to swim with the dolphins.....had we gone for any other reason, we would have been disappointed. The place must have had it's "hay-day" in the 70's or 80's and has not been updated, fixed, painted, washed, cleaned, or repaired since then. We wouldn't recommend a visit to this park, but swimming with the dolphin (or wholphin) was COOL!
The wholphin we swam with is the only daughter of the only wholphin in existence (that they know of). Her name was Kawili Kai. We had a great time petting her, being splashed as she slapped the water, giving her kisses, and being pulled through the water while holding her fins. I even enjoyed it; and some of you know how much I love animals (sarcasm)!

This was our last day in Hawaii. It's been two weeks since we got back. We'll be ready to head back to Kauai soon! Too bad we don't have any plans to do so for a long while.

Those pictures are so COOL!!! That looks like so much fun. I, too, am not an animal lover, but there is something about sea animals that is totally different for me. Except gross ones.
